As a general guide, Small (12 X 18 in) suits shelves & intimate spaces, Medium (16 X 24 in) works well as a focal point, Large (20 X 30 in) for a main wall, & X-Large (24 X 36 in) for larger spaces where the art really contributes to the room. When in doubt, go bigger. Artwork almost always looks smaller on a wall than expected.
